My best friend's wedding

I met my best friend Chris back in high school. As some say that "birds of same feather flock together", that is how we were. We only laugh at each other's mistake and bloopers instead of criticizing each other. Our common bond just like other best of friends is simply "laughter". Our friendship grew deeper even after we finished college. Though we didn't go to the same school in college. We still had the time for a get together with our rest of "barkada" like going to the beach for an overnight or just a sing-along fun at home. But things changed when we already found job of our own while the rest of our friends got married. We no longer saw each other then as much as we'd wanted to.

However, that gap didn't affect us that much. I was too preoccupied with my work while my best friend enjoyed his courtship to a common friend and later on became his sweetheart. But the relationship was not as plausible as it may seem. I know for a fact that my best friend had other girlfriend aside from that common friend. I advised him to end the first one before he'd jump to a new one. But it was a sorry attempt. He couldn't find the courage to end the first relationship.. other than the fact that he was more in love to the second one. And just like any other love story of a man cheating his girl, there happened a big confrontation. The two ladies met and my best friend ended like a mouse in its trap. And he had to choose bet. the two. He chose the second one. But just when I thought that he would finally have his best love story ever heard, their relationship didn't last. The girl he chose found another man in the internet. This time it was the girl who gave him up. But my best friend was so in love with her that he'd really die to have her back. If it was 'karma' that Chris got, I don't know. But the girl didn't love him anymore.

During those times when Chris was broken hearted, we would see each other for some times esp. during special occasions like birthdays and common friend's wedding. My best friend has his own way of making me believe that he was OK. There were invitations from him like eating out for a dinner or going to the movie that I rejected. Little did I realize that those were the times when he needed me. Some even say that we could have bee more than friends had I only gave him the chance to show his feelings. But I brushed aside the idea not wanting to take advantage of what we already have.

On the early week of December 2006, my best friend married the lady he rejected during his bout on his break-up to the girl he truly loves. The wedding was exclusively for their both families, close relatives and friends. I didn't know about the wedding and so I realized perhaps, I was no longer a part of him. For a couple of months, I did not talk to him. But he was persistent in wooing me to have my friendship back. I accepted his apology.

After being married for a year, I heard him still asking details about the girl he was so in love with. I felt sad. He's still in love with his ex. When I heard this song, only one person popped up in my mind. Could it be my best friend's story?

ka bute,

reality sya pero still it's not fair to the wife.:(

nanay belen,

i feel the same sentiment.kaya lang in-love talaga sa kanya yung wife nya kaya siguro kahit alam nya na di sya talaga mahal ng guy, go parin syang pakasal. ang girl kasi talaga ang pursigido din eh. pero kakainis parin kung iisipin.

but now i guess, he has moved on already with his married life.

It looks to me that your friend's real love was the girl who ditched him. All I can say is perhaps time will heal his wound and he will learn to reciprocate the love his wife has for him :)

He needs to focus on his wife now. He has no choice but to move on at this point.

he entered into it and commit to it. there's no other way of else...

btw, there are no old churches in Dabaw and most parts of mindanao simply because it's not part of spanish control. it was during the time of the americans and under Quezon when migrant settlers from the Visayas and Luzon came to populate the island

There was a song of long ago (bet you're not familiar with it) that goes: John's in love with Joan, Joan's in love with Jim, Jim's in love with someone who's not in love with him. C'est la vie. Such is life. We try to make tbe best of our choices. Even second choices. Who knows that the second choice will turn out to be the best?!
