ways to stay younger-looking

Fabulous hair, a great plastic surgeon, personal trainers, stylists, and chefs who make house calls—when it comes to maintaining a youthful appearance, it's true, celebs have it easier than the rest of us. But, never fear, our panel of experts revealed a surprising number of ways to defy your age and none of them require red carpet access.

THE COSMETIC DERMATOLOGIST

Who
: Heidi Waldorf, MD, associate clinical professor at Mount Sinai Hospital's department of dermatology in New York.

Top Secret: Diligently apply sun protection. (You knew that was coming.) "Most women miss the jawline, neck, chest, and hands, and they're all very telling of aging skin," says Waldorf. Beyond that, if you're not planning to get pregnant, use topical retinoids a few times a week. You can get them in OTC products or in higher concentrations from a dermatologist. "Studies show they help aged skin look more normal microscopically," Waldorf says.

Next Best Tips: Once you hit 40, regular, gentle exfoliation helps keep the complexion lustrous. Of all the anti-aging products on drugstore shelves, Waldorf recommends RoC Deep Retinol Correxion Wrinkle Serum and SkinMedica TNS Essential Serum, which she calls, "chicken soup for the skin."

Life is like a cup of coffee..

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee. Savor the coffee, not the cups! The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

One day I decided to quit...

I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality... I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me...
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I replied.

When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.
I gave them light. I gave them water.
The fern quickly grew from the earth.
Its brilliant green covered the floor.
Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.
"In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed.
But I would not quit. In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed.
"I would not quit." He said. "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.

Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant...
But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.

It had spent the five years growing roots.

Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots."

"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. " Don't compare yourself to others .." He said.
" The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern ... Yet, they both make the forest beautiful."

Your time will come, " God said to me. " You will rise high! " How high should I rise?" I asked.

How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can? " I questioned.

" Yes. " He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can. "

I left the forest and bring back this story.

I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.

He will never give up on you.

Never regret a day in your life.

Good days give you happiness

Bad days give you experiences;

Both are essential to life.

A happy and meaningful life requires our continuous input and creativity.
It does not happen by chance. It happens because of our choices and actions.
And each day we are given new opportunities to choose and act and, in doing so, we create our own unique journey." Keep going...

Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrows keep you Human,
Failures keep you humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going!

Ms. Philippines got 4th in Ms. Universe'10

It's been quite a very long time since the Philippines hit a good mark in the Ms. Universe pageant. This time, even if the 22-yr-old Ms. Venue Raj didn't make it to the title, still I am proud with the rest of the Filipinos that she made it to the list which is way closer to being Ms. U.

The question during the Q.A was actually very typical. Sa isip ko nga, parang di naman todong pang Ms. U ang tanong sa kanya, parang pang question lang sa essay type ng testpaper para sa mga mag-aaral. Ms. Raj could have answered it more than what we expected to hear from her, however, her being calm and in good posture as she answered it, panalo narin yun, even if I am not quite satisfied with the answer. :))

Still, a big applause to Ms. Venus!Keep it up!

Business plan..

I plan to put up a small business. But the thing is I don't know how to start, what are the things to consider for the certain business and most of all, I've to be ready to take risk and chances. I'll just keep my fingers cross but hopefully, whatever I plan to put up with will work out well as planned. I don't want to expect too much from it. You know when you are very eager to do a thing, you just have to believe in your self. I have to set my objectives and goals. Business planning isn't that easy but if I will start it now, then maybe, just maybe, who knows, I might have things I hold turn to gold like Midas. :)

Memory tricks for the brain...

Can't remember where you put your glasses? Blanked on your new colleague's name? "Forgetting these types of things is a sign of how busy we are," says Zaldy S. Tan, MD, director of the Memory Disorders Clinic at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. "When we're not paying good attention, the memories we form aren't very robust, and we have a problem retrieving the information later."

1. Pay attention. When you're introduced to someone, really listen to the person's name. Then, to get a better grasp, picture the spelling. Ask, "Is that Kathy with a K or a C?" Make a remark about the name to help lock it in ("Oh, Carpenter -- that was my childhood best friend's last name"), and use the name a few times during the conversation and when you say goodbye.

a timetable..

I will have to rekindle my sense of focus again for the school year is soon to start. Everything will be on the go this time. I need a timetable to have all my works done without finding myself in a RUSH. I was used to doing things at a last minute--working under pressure, that's it! But it shouldn't be that way. I have to have an organize set up over things like from making lesson planning to dealing with students who have behavioral problems.

Ahhh..have to take a deep breath for now..and chillax! I will have them all well prepared under my timetable. I hope so. :)

The paradox of our Time

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but
shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more,
but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and
smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees
but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more
problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little,
drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too
little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our
possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and
hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to
life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but
have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer
space but not inner space.

We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air,
but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold
more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less
and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small
character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of
two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one
night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer,
to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the
stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time
when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going
to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to
you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your
side.

Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you because that is the only
treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent. Remember,
to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all
mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep
inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday
that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak
and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Noah's Ark discovery

On Tuesday, a group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers boasted that they had found the iconic religious boat on Mount Ararat (where the Bible says the ark came to rest after the great flood).

"It's not 100% that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9% that this is it," Yeung Wing-cheung, a Hong Kong documentary filmmaker and member of the group, told AFP.

"There's a tremendous amount of solid evidence that the structure found on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey, is the legendary Ark of Noah," said Dutch Ark researcher Gerrit Aalten" , head of NoahsArkSearch.com, at the press conference to announce the discovery.

Get into sports!

I love sports! I especially love sports events wherein my friends and I work as a team. I remember when I was a kid, I never wanted to end my day without being able to play with my playmates and even with my brothers and sisters. We also used to play ball games. What we did then was to win the game as a team that truly enhanced our relationships as family and best buddies. And even when we have now grown to be matured individuals, still we never stop to indulge ourselves into sports, being another form of exercise.

But of course, engaging into sports will not be complete without having the best get-ups available in stores. Next week, we will be having our sportsfest with my other co-workers. I now think of how to avail sports wear for baseball and softball. Some of my colleagues also search for a more affordable football accessories and the best soccer kit and uniform . We also look for some items such as volleyball set and cheerleading uniforms since we will be performing and giving our best as a team.

In a situation where everybody now seems too busy for the preparation, I feel the need to look for these sports' items online. I no longer have enough time to rush to the stores along downtown area to look for one. And so I prefer ShopWiki.com as a great help for all the items that I need. If you too are as busy as I am, then try this latest craze for sports wear online!
