professional ethic

I remember in my sociology subject back in college when our professor asked the class,"Do all people with etiquette have manners?" I raised my hand and answered "No!". And then my professor in turn affirmed on me. Our lesson during that time whas about proper etiquette like table manners and the like. I don't know what flashes me back to that lesson but I'm quite sure that this personal experience of mine can relate to it.

I applied in one school without any idea at all that they were actually into immediate hiring. I submitted my credentials but was never hopeful that I would hear from them right away. After an hour, I received a message from the HR personnel asking me to report the following day. The next morning, I went back for an interview. The HR head asked me how did I hear about the hiring. I plainly said that I had no idea at all that there was any hiring. We talked for about 20mins. or so. Our conversation was very casual and the HR head was plain warm and nice during the whole time of interviewing me. Right after our talk, she asked her staff to bring me to the Principal's office, perhaps for final interview. I often perceived school principals to be in their 50's or late 40's. However, to my amusement, the woman sitting inside an air-conditioned room, asking me how I am , was only in her mid 30's. And so I thought she must have been a very intellectual woman to be an achiever already at such an age.

When she was about to interview me, the phone near her rang. And with just a split second I heard her already conversing with the other person on the line. Her words went this way. "I like the other one ( referring to the other applicant who came in first for an interview before me)". She went on saying, "I really like her,.. Yeah, we're eying for her..she's my bet...ok, she's here already(referring to me)I haven't talked to her yet..I still have to talk to her (me)...ok." And then she put down the phone and faced me, asked me only one or two questions and then told me to just wait for their call.

Whoaaa! What would you feel hearing professionals talking in front of an applicant voting for one againts the other? I was so disappointed with what I heard that I so wanted to evaporate from my chair. In my mind, do they know that I have feelings too? Can't she have at least professional decency or ethical manner to talk about this matter with her subordinates in private?

Ethics means the rules or standards governing the conduct of a person or the members of a profession. Was the principal ever aware with her action during that time? or just too overwhelmed to have voted for the other applicant and forgot that I was there? Or was i just being sensitive?

My college professor was indeed right for asking us then. And I was indeed right for saying "No".

eye condition..

My eye condition changes my ordinary routine of staying long in front of the PC monitor. The eye doctor once advised me never to remove my glasses, only when in bed or shower. But being stubborn isn't easy..hehe!(sabi din kasi ng iba lalo daw tataas ang grado ng mata kapag nasanay na sa eyeglasses). Also not being used to wearing glasses wherever I go, I only wear it when situation calls. And so, here I am, facing the consequence of my action..yay!
**********
Anyway, I have here a souvenir of my cousins' exciting trip at one of the beautiful beaches in the island of Bohol last summer. Ang saya nila no?kakainggit!hehe..

Now who says that life is a bore?

Top 10 biggest BRAIN DAMAGING habits

Could this be true? hehe! hmm.. we'll see:

1. No breakfast
2. Overeating
3. Smoking
4. High Sugar consumption
5. Air Pollution
6. Sleep deprivation
7. Head covered while sleeping
8. Working your brain during illness
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
10. Talking rarely

Please don't ask me to explain each. I am guilty of sleep deprivation too, my surroundings can be polluted, i love sweets, sometimes i overeat, and i too unconsciously cover my head when asleep. And so hopefully God forbid, I will not have my brain damaged one day.^0^

Now it's up for you to react. ;P

Blog Act against POVERTY

I wish to join with the rest of bloggers around the globe in the "blog act day'08" about the issue on POVERTY.

I remember a priest narrating his experience being assigned into a very poor community. He even slept in a room where roof leaked and when rain would pour, they had to ready a small pail to catch the water from atop. And then later he ended his sharing by saying, " let us practice and even teach our children the act of giving instead of the act of asking". It moved me.

"For a man who has much but is not willing to share--he still has nothing. BUT for a man who has very less yet still willing to share--he has more than enough."

Let's fight against poverty. Be a gift.

refresh..restart..click!

This is my story each time i start to sit down in front of my PC monitor. Most of the time, the PC would hang up and so i have to click refresh and if it won't work, i have to restart..ahhh! And to restart means waiting for another minutes to have it on because the system would run in slow motion. errr!may varicose veins na'ko sa kamay and my fingers are calloused..:0

But my story doesn't end there. As this has been part of my daily rounds, i've much realization about it. Isn't it that life is like that? It gives you a blow, then it would hang up and so to deal with it, we have to refresh our selves..restart things where we messed up with and click on a decision that might give clearer vision than the first attempt..enduringly deal things that are in 'slow mo' until we are able to surmount our own issue.

Refresh..restart..click is like an old adage that goes, "try and try until you succeed".

go back to basic

To go back to basic doesn't literally mean, you'll use sodium chloride, as in "salt" in brushing your teeth or make a fire out of friction between two heated stone. Going back to basic doesn't also mean you will no longer live like what you already have today and go back to being primitive.

I say "go back to basic" because what we learn in our elementary days might actually be what we just missed to apply in our day to day encounter with life and things. Well, I have not read the book "Things I've learned from Kindergarten" but somehow I've idea that my "go back to basic" can be assimilated. During my time, finishing kindergarten was not a prerequisite to enter elementary. Admittedly, I did not actually go through kindergarten..hehe!

For a life that is now too complex like prices of commodities go much higher and education becomes even too commercialized...you realize that even if you work and study doubly in order to get and learn things..your wants and needs however became even too complicated. And you still end up feeling frustrated at the end of the day. And so perhaps what our teachers taught us in our elementary days might probably the things we need to apply today.

To recount the things taught in elementary, here are few I consider as tips:

1. Learn to save.- If you only earn P7000/month, you may save P500 of it. Of course, you don't spend more than what you only earn (unless there are emergencies). So that you will still be able to enjoy that hard-earned money instead of thinking how to distribute your money for debts you will have to pay. One thing, don't invest things that your budget cannot afford. Acting on impulse is dangerous. Learn to hold back, stop and think.

2. Learn to share.- I have very little "baon" when I was in elementary and I even thought how could I share that. But I realized that no matter how little you have, that becomes big when shared. "Blessings will always look small when we hold them in our hands but when shared to others, it becomes great".

3. Respect your elders or others as well.- This is optional. Values formation is a behavioral pattern. It's the same as "what you sow is what you reap or do unto others what you want others do unto you".

4. Be Punctual. - Whether at work, an interview, a presentation or in school, be sure to get there on time. As an old cliche goes, " early bird catches worm". Stop adhering on the "the Filipino time" habit.

and lastly..

5. Learn about the Subject-Verb agreement.- I don't know if it has relevance to the previous tips I mentioned, but I noticed that our difficulty in constructing simple sentence often marked up on not being able to reconcile with our subject and predicate. Just go back to the basic grammar rules that "a singular subject uses singular verb and a plural subject uses a plural verb".

Well I sure hope that these "go back to basic" tips will do. Have a great weekend ahead!:)

My best friend's wedding

I met my best friend Chris back in high school. As some say that "birds of same feather flock together", that is how we were. We only laugh at each other's mistake and bloopers instead of criticizing each other. Our common bond just like other best of friends is simply "laughter". Our friendship grew deeper even after we finished college. Though we didn't go to the same school in college. We still had the time for a get together with our rest of "barkada" like going to the beach for an overnight or just a sing-along fun at home. But things changed when we already found job of our own while the rest of our friends got married. We no longer saw each other then as much as we'd wanted to.

However, that gap didn't affect us that much. I was too preoccupied with my work while my best friend enjoyed his courtship to a common friend and later on became his sweetheart. But the relationship was not as plausible as it may seem. I know for a fact that my best friend had other girlfriend aside from that common friend. I advised him to end the first one before he'd jump to a new one. But it was a sorry attempt. He couldn't find the courage to end the first relationship.. other than the fact that he was more in love to the second one. And just like any other love story of a man cheating his girl, there happened a big confrontation. The two ladies met and my best friend ended like a mouse in its trap. And he had to choose bet. the two. He chose the second one. But just when I thought that he would finally have his best love story ever heard, their relationship didn't last. The girl he chose found another man in the internet. This time it was the girl who gave him up. But my best friend was so in love with her that he'd really die to have her back. If it was 'karma' that Chris got, I don't know. But the girl didn't love him anymore.

During those times when Chris was broken hearted, we would see each other for some times esp. during special occasions like birthdays and common friend's wedding. My best friend has his own way of making me believe that he was OK. There were invitations from him like eating out for a dinner or going to the movie that I rejected. Little did I realize that those were the times when he needed me. Some even say that we could have bee more than friends had I only gave him the chance to show his feelings. But I brushed aside the idea not wanting to take advantage of what we already have.

On the early week of December 2006, my best friend married the lady he rejected during his bout on his break-up to the girl he truly loves. The wedding was exclusively for their both families, close relatives and friends. I didn't know about the wedding and so I realized perhaps, I was no longer a part of him. For a couple of months, I did not talk to him. But he was persistent in wooing me to have my friendship back. I accepted his apology.

After being married for a year, I heard him still asking details about the girl he was so in love with. I felt sad. He's still in love with his ex. When I heard this song, only one person popped up in my mind. Could it be my best friend's story?

acculturated

A study has shown that one of the most fluent speakers of English in the world are the Filipinos. Roaming around the Blogosphere somehow helped me prove this theory. Most Filipino bloggers have great command of the English language, if we notice.

Education, being the American's legacy to us during their era of empowerment, has remained the most valued part of life's learning process for every Filipino family. We always believe on the idea that "education determines success in one's life". Some may not adhere on this belief "philosophically". But as for me, the formal training for learning is only through education.

I congratulate the Americans for their strong influence in the spread of the English language. But most of all, I salute the Filipino people for the great actual performance of the language.

Well, I guess this only goes to prove that Filipinos do get acculturated easily.

Confused Statue

We had fun roaming around 'crocodile park' when i noticed this statue in between cages of animals. I don't know why such figure is placed inside an animal park. But if i would have to infer the idea, then perhaps, just perhaps this looking confused statue in bowed manner has not yet able to reconcile with being an existent of this world--would he rather be one of the animals around him or would he be just like any other ordinary human being. Just my lousy assumption anyway!haha!

What about you?any idea why it's there or why like that?:-)

"Everything has its own purpose under heaven."

my PC is teaching me about patience

Working on with my PC even from the start hasn't been easy for me. There are times when i had to deal with its "tantrum". And that just as human, even things have their way to test us what real virtue is. And as for my PC, it's teaching me "patience". There are times when I am in a hurry to finish a certain job but my PC would hang up for like more than 15-20 minutes and I have no option but wait 'til it gets me down to business. Ahh!Instead of feeling anxious over the thought of having my PC as my attitude determiner in some instance, I guess i just have to thank it still for the virtue it's teaching me.

Well, "Patience is a virtue" indeed!:)

Kalachuchi: Used to be my favorite

I don't actually know how to call this flower in the English term, but this is otherwise known as "kalachuchi" in our own local term. Well, I say that this kind of flower really blossoms up with me. It has been the witness of my childhood days. Aside from its own aroma, this has a lot of functions to us. We used this as our offering to the Altar of our chapel and we also have this as our decorations when we celebrate fiesta in our little barrio. But the most funny thing about it is that, when I was little, we used this flower as part of our game also known as "takyan" in bisayan term. That is why this "kalachuchi" is very memorable to me for most of my childhood days.

National Phonebook

Receiving unregistered cell numbers or even phone numbers hasn't been easy for me. Especially when owners of these numbers do not want to be identified. I am referring to prank calls or those who just want to bully around. They keep me irritating for sometimes. And that out of being impatient, I would sometimes opt to have my phone off for a while. But I know it won't help esp. when there are important calls or messages that I must not missed.

This time, I will no longer worry in dealing with unregistered numbers. The National Phone Book is now ready to help me get through with it. Aside from the hassle of identifying unwanted calls, I will also be provided with a local and state phone book directory information. This is a phonebook provider that will help me search the owner of any phone number from almost all States in U.S and their area code.

For more details, just visit nationalphonebook.org and a phonebook database service provider is ready to serve you!

Tolerance

I often hear people say that the most important and even hard things in all forms of relationship are faithfulness and honesty. Well I say, let's include tolerance. But I also say that it's hard...because tolerance includes accepting the most unacceptable characteristics of the one you love. It's when you realize that you have to bear with another person's temper without completely losing your sense of pride as a person. You realize that you can never change the way he/she is according to what's simply comfortable and ideal for you...all because along with loving entails sacrifice, and along with this sacrifice entails genuine feelings for people.

We simply don't tolerate people we care for, we impose discipline..but then after all's been said and done..you will go back to the same old rule....I tell you...because you value these people...because you love your wife or husband..because you love your kids...because you love your friends.

Because you LOVE...you learn to tolerate because that's what loving your relationship with people tells you to.

My online phonebook

Ever since I have my new cellphone with me, this keeps me "on-the-go" whenever I have important appointments with business clients. However, there are times that I overlook some of my clients' numbers. These are numbers from whom I forgot to register in my cellular phone. Now, my dilemma is over. I already have a Phone Book Lookup to help me search for the names and even cellphone numbers I have not registered.

The search is very easy. I can already locate them by just registering their cell phone number, phone number or a phone search. This is a very easy access wherein 50 State phone books can provide me the first and last name, street address, city, and state of the owner. Results are given immediately. This is very helpful too in identifying prank calls or messages because this also provides additional information, such as background reports can be completed.

i kissed dating good-bye

* once upon a time i was once like the other falling in love for the first time...and i was also once like the other badly hurt out of it ,for the first time. and so before i kissed dating good-bye, i put my pain into words...

I don’t know how long I have endured the silence.
That deafening silence that you so kept within yourself,
that not even the clanging of cymbals could ever equal its loudness.
I cried.
I cried in the empty silence of solitude.

Just how bitter was the pill you shoved down my throat!
Such was the only pain that I so want for an answer..
If all for you was just a game then just say, “you win!”.
But please go without ever taking away my self-esteem.

Say “ good bye”...
Just say goodbye… and don’t explain why.
The word is already enough to prove it all.
Say “ goodbye”… in case you feel the guilt.
or say it… in case you realize...that you actually just forget.

Have your brain test

Saw this brain test from pretty Janj's site. I got curious and so I gave myself a try. This is what I got. And somehow it tells almost exactly about me.:)

Right-brained

Most right-brained people like you are flexible in many realms of their lives. Whether picking up on the nuances of musical concerto, appreciating the subtle details in a work of art, or seeing the world from a different perspective, right-brained people are creative, imaginative, and attuned to their surroundings.

People probably see your thinking process as boundless, and that might translate to your physical surroundings as well. Some people think of you as messier than others. It's not that you're disorganized, it's just that you might use different systems to organize (by theme, by subject, by color). Straight alphabetization and rigidly ordered folders are not typical of right-brained behavior.

You are also more intuitive than many. When it comes to reading literature, you probably prefer creative writing or fiction over nonfiction. And when it comes to doing math, you might find you enjoy geometry more than other forms like algebra.

***weee, hindi kolang sure if i'd ever enjoyed dealing with numbers as a student then..but for sure I've learned to love it now esp. when I have to learn how to budget..hehe!
